We are glad you visited our web site and encourage you to make use of the materials we publish in your personal studies.
Blackfoot Church of Christ is a congregation of Christians seeking to follow the Bible pattern delivered by the Apostles in all aspects of our life and congregational work. We seek to grow closer to God through study of the Bible and prayer. We strive to make practical application of what we’ve learned. But it’s not just about us, we are also enthusiastic about reaching the community around us with the Good News of salvation in Jesus Christ. We don’t pretend to have every answer for every trouble and difficulty that happens to us. We simply walk by faith and believe the Bible is our only guide. We would be glad to talk with you, study with you, or assist you in any way, as you seek to learn more about God and His will.
We accept the Bible as the inspired and infallible revealed word of God, written by men whom God chose, and preserved for man throughout the centuries; 2 Tim 3:16, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:”. We believe that the Bible is relevant to the lifestyles and needs of men for all times, including the 21st century, 2 Tim 3:17, “That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works”. The Bible contains divine truths that are the guide from Earth to Heaven. Because we believe this to be true, we do not hold to any creed written by men, Gal 1:6-8 “I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.” We seek a “Thus Says the Lord” for all that we do individually and as a congregation of God’s people.
We also recognize the different testaments or covenants that are contained within the Bible. The first 39 books of the bible (aka Old Testament) have been replaced by Jesus’s covenant, Heb 9:15-17, “And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth”. Though the Old Testament contains great lessons and truths about God and His people; they are not binding under our new covenant that was established by Jesus.
The Gospel is the power of God unto Salvation, Rom 1:16-17, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.” Jesus commanded His disciples to preach the Gospel to all nations, baptizing them, Mt 28:18-20, And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” In Acts 2:38-41 we find the Apostles begin to fulfill this command. “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.” We also see that God revealed His will through the Apostles 1 Cor 2:9-10, “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by His Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.” Their preaching of the Gospel of Christ convicted men everywhere and brought them to obey Christs’ command of baptism in their initial obedience Acts 8:35-38, “Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.” These Christians were also called to obey all the Apostles teachings just as they were His own, because they were His teaching Jn 14:26, “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”
We want to Help
We are a group of Christians striving to live Godly in this world, Tit 2:11-13, “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ;”. We sincerely believe this church is just like the one you read about in the New Testament; the church that Jesus built. We invite you to worship and work with us by serving Christ under the authority of His word.
